Senegal is located in West Africa. It is officially known as the Republic of Senegal. In 1982, Senegal merged with Gambia to become one country known as Senegambia. The two countries then separated in 1989.
Senegal is bordered by Mauritania, Mali, Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau.
