Madagascar is the fourth largest island in the world. It was recently discovered by humans in 500AD, which is an estimated 300,000 years after homo sapiens evolved in Africa.
Madagascar is mostly surrounded with the Indian Ocean except one of its borders which lies along the Mozambique Channel. Its closest neighbours include Comoros Islands, Reunion Islands, and Mauritus.
